Research Use Only (RUO) Products

01 — Receiving

Incoming inspection for research peptides

Treat each shipment as a controlled research material. Confirm the record, the package, and the analytical file before the vial enters inventory.

Last reviewed: 14 October 2026

Do not reconstitute a disputed vial. Opening solvent into the cake destroys the ability to evaluate the material as shipped.

On delivery

  1. Photograph the outer carton, insulation, and any temperature indicator before opening.
  2. Record carrier, tracking number, date and time received, and receiver initials.
  3. Inspect for crush damage.
  4. Confirm vial count, cap integrity, and that labels are legible (product identifier, batch, mass, RUO statement).

Reconcile three documents

RecordWhat to match
Purchase order / invoiceCatalog name, mass per vial, quantity, ship-to
Vial labelBatch number, product identifier, net content
Certificate of AnalysisSame batch number, same product identifier, test date and methods

Do not place a batch into general use until the CoA batch number matches the vial. File the PDF with the batch and keep the original filename.

Recommended batch file

  • Invoice and packing list
  • CoA, including any updated CoA if a retest is issued
  • Safety Data Sheet
  • Receiving photographs and temperature notes
  • Signed incoming inspection form
  • Subsequent aliquot log

Quarantine versus release

Many laboratories use a two-bin system: quarantine until CoA and label match; release only after the receiving form is signed. That habit matters more than any single storage temperature.

If something is wrong

Photograph the label and carton. Keep the material at the labeled storage condition. Contact support with order number, batch, and photographs. Do not add solvent.
